Welcome to the Department of English and American Studies at the University of Paderborn.
Our department is committed to a
broad perspective on language, literature, and culture in the English-speaking
world. We offer degree programs for future teachers (GyGe, GHRGE/BK,
Grundschule), a BA and MA program in English and American Literature and
Culture, and a BA and MA program in Linguistics. 30 faculty members bring
innovative approaches and international experience to their teaching and
research. Guest lecturers from the English-speaking world and various opportunities to study
abroad complement our program, building bridges from Paderborn to the UK,
the US, and beyond.

Ringvorlesung "Barock im Norden?" startet am 23.11.2011, 18.00 Uhr
Am Mittwoch, den 23.11.2011 findet um 18.00 in der Aula des
Gmynasiums St. Michael (Michaelstr. 17, 33098) die erste Sitzung der
Ringvorlesung "Barock im Norden?" der Veranstalter Herrn Prof. Dr.
Christoph Ehland (Institut für Anglistik und Amerikanistik), Frau Prof.
Dr. Sabine Schmitz (Institut für Romanistik) und Herrn Prof. Dr.
Süßmann (Historisches Institut) zum Thema: "Barock im Norden - eine
Einführung" statt. Der Schwerpunkt der Ringvorlesung gilt der
Barock-Rezeption nördlich der Alpen, wobei das Hauptaugenmerk auf
Erscheinungen wie dem flämischen Barock, dem englischen Barock und
dem Paderborner Fürstenberger Barock liegt.

Die English Drama Group lädt herzlich zur Vorführung des Stückes "I
hate Hamlet" von Paul Rudnick ein. Die Aufführungen sind am 31.01,
