Death Race 2000
If you've only seen the lush and clean Jason Statham action-fest, you've never really seen it. All director Paul Bartel needed in 1975 were some hand-crafted Sci-Fic cars, some game actors and a bag of perversely satirical ideas. Set during the Transcontinental Road Race in the futuristic year of 2000 (!), a colourful competition of race car drivers - including David Carradine as Frankenstein and a then-unknown Sylvester Stallone as "Machine Gun" Joe Viterbo - go on a rampage through the countryside. Arriving first is fine, but taking as many bystanders, hikers and other kinds of walking or sitting humans with them is the real challange. Bonus points for toddlers and seniors!
See you on Tuesday, July 17, 7.15 p.m. in E2.122. Admission is free.
