Internationale Gastwissenschaftler*innen Populäre Musik und Medien / International guest researchers popular music and media

Dr. Abner Perez kommt aus Ecuador und hat in Großbritannien, Mexiko und Deutschland gelebt. Er war von Oktober 2018 bis Juni 2022 Doktorand „Populäre Musik und Medien" bei Prof. Dr. Christoph Jacke und Jun.-Prof.'in Dr.'in Beate Flath. Seine Dissertation Higher Popular Music Education and Decoloniality: Perspectives from Ecuador and Germany ist über die Universitätsbibliothek Paderborn veröffentlicht. 

Als Lehrbeauftragter hat er im Studiengang „Populäre Musik und Medien BA/MA" der Universität Paderborn bisher folgende Seminare angeboten:

  • The sounds of the silenced: Decolonial, ethnic, and gender discourses in current Latin American popular music (SoSe 2023)
  • "Si quiere', mi machete te muerde" (If you want, my machete will bite you): Decoloniality and ethnic discourses in Latin American popular music (WiSe 2022/23)
  • Take the money and run: A critical approach to the symbolic violence of neoliberalism in commercial popular music (SoSe 2022)
  • Gimme tha Power: An Introduction to Postcolonial and Decolonial Theory through Latin American Popular Music (WiSe 2021/22)
  • Girls Run the World & Boys Don't Cry: A Genre Theory Examination of Gender Identity Constructions in Contemporary Popular Music (SoSe 2021)
  • The Sounds of the Silenced: Decolonial, Ethnic, and Gender Discourses in Current Latin American Popular Music (WiSe 2020/21)
  • Take the Money and Run: A Critical Approach to the Symbolic Violence of Neoliberalism in Commercial Popular Music (SoSe 2020)
  • Right to Copy: A Latin American Perspective to Popular Music within the Free Culture Movement (SoSe 2019)
  • Popular by Nature: An Introduction to Colonialism, Imported Bourgeoisie and Cultural Adoption in Latin American Music (WiSe 2018/19)

Zudem war Perez an der UPB Sänger des Salsa-Ensembles „La Fuente" und nahm an verschiedenen Veranstaltungen wie der Popkritik teil.

Am 14. Januar 2022 war Prof. Dr. Antti-Ville Kärjä von der Sibelius-Akademie an der Universität der Künste Helsinki zu Gast in dem Master-Seminar „Popmusikkulturen und Olfaktorik. Überlegungen zu einer sensorischen Perspektive auf Popmusikalische Phänomene“ von Dr. Stefanie Roenneke. Antti-Ville Kärjä präsentierte den Vortrag „An agenda for Olfactory Cultural Studies“. Er stellte seinen Forschungsansatz näher vor und diskutierte mit den Studierenden ein Beispiel aus dem Comic „Asterix“.
