Information and Discussion Event on the WissZeitVG

The Information and Discussion Event on the WissZeitVG takes place once a year and is organized together with the German Education Union (GEW) and representatives of the Academic Staff Council (WPR) (only available in German). The invited experts give an overview of the most important information about the WissZeitVG (German law on fixed-term contracts in academia) and discuss the difficulties and possibilities of the law on a case-specific basis.

The event will answer questions such as:

How do you calculate the 12-year maximum term?
Under which circumstances is it possible to extend a contract?
How do you handle the limitation of third-party funding?
What is the Sonderbefristungsesetz (special fixed-term contract law)?
Is it possible to limit the term of a contract according to regulations other than the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (German law on fixed-term contracts in academia) at the university?
In general, how many contracts are possible?

Target audience: prospective doctoral candidates, PhD candidates, postdocs, junior professors
