German language courses for international students

As exchange students from partner universities or master's students in English-language degree programs at Paderborn University, you can take part in the crash course in the winter and summer semester. Here you have the opportunity to improve your language skills for everyday university and private life.

 

Registration

  • Please register in PAUL via "Sprachkurse ZfS inkl. Deutsch": detailed instruction.
  • The registration does not guarantee you a place in the course. If there are more registrations than course places, the course places will be allocated by lot.
  • You can see the status of your registration shortly before the course starts in PAUL via the function "Status meiner Anmeldung" (Status of my registration).
  • If you received a place in a course but do not wish to attend the course, please deregister from the course.

Notices:

  • Please understand that we cannot answer questions about the status of your registration. You will see the results of your registration shortly before the course starts in PAUL via the function "Status meiner Anmeldung” (Status of my registration).
  • If you do not get a course place and therefore have problems with your standard period of study, please contact your faculty.

 

Placement

  • If you already have German language skills, but have not yet completed a German course at Paderborn University, you must take a placement test before registration.
  • The test takes place online via KOMO: detailed instructions.
  • Please note the deadlines (see deadlines).

Notice: If you do not have any German language skills, you do not need to take the placement test. You can directly register for level A1.1 then.

 

Classes

  • The teaching volume will be 80 teaching units (UE) per course.
  • You will be informed by your teachers about the organisation of the lessons.
  • If you successfully complete the course, you will receive 5 ECTS. Your teachers will inform you about the conditions of successful participation.
