I write at a high speed because boredom is bad for my health … I also avoid green vegetables. They're grossly overrated — Noel Coward (1899-1973)

Forschung
Forschungsschwerpunkte
Over the past five years, I have been working on military, rural, poetic, and nostalgic themes. I have presented my research at a range of academic conferences and workshops, including major international events such as the MLA Convention in Washington, D.C. (2022), where I presented a paper on ‘The Literature(s) of Gardening in Eighteenth-Century England’, and the ESSE Conference. Some of it found its way into peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, including articles on the impact of super-rich migration on the British countryside, on ITV’s Downton Abbey, on the figure of Pontius Pilate in contemporary historical fiction (forthcoming), and on the Iraq and Afghanistan War Memorial in London (forthcoming). The paper I gave at the 2022 ESSE Conference on British soldier poetry in the twenty-first century was turned into an article in 2023 in the University of Warsaw Press’s Anglica journal. Since then, I have been working on a larger project on ‘The New Soldier Poets’ and was fortunate enough to spend some time in 2023 and 2024 as a visiting scholar at University College London.
