PAGLE – Paderborn Archive of German Learner English

This project compiles a speech corpus of German Learner English. In contrast to existing projects we also elicit data on speech perception and categorisation as well as on social evaluation. In addition, a broad array of sociobiographical data is elicited as part of the project. We are specifically aiming at studying the impact of relevant biographical episodes (such as overseas stays in anglophone countries, media exposure to L2 data over an individual’s lifetime, etc.) on the development of learners’ performance in the production, perception, and evaluation of different varieties of English.
