Successful participation in two Lancaster University Summer Schools

Our colleague Matthias Orlikowski was successful with his applications and was able to attend two summer schools at the University of Lancaster, United Kingdom, during the last two weeks.

The Summer School in Corpus Linguistics for Analysis of Language, Discourse and Society (June 25-28) focused on interdisciplinary research between corpus linguistics and the social sciences and the humanities. In line with the research priorities of the <link http: cass.lancs.ac.uk>Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS), particular attention was paid to the use of text-statistical methods for the analysis of social discourses.

The subsequent Summer School in corpus-based Natural Language Processing (July 2 to 5) at the <link http: ucrel.lancs.ac.uk>University Centre for Computer Corpus Research on Language (UCREL) focused on methods of computer linguistics and computer science. Here too, cooperation with other subjects played an important role, especially in the context of digital cultural studies.
