Theory meets practice at the 2nd International Summer School on Deep Leaning in Genoa

Our colleague Joschka Kersting was invited this week to participate in an international summer school on the topic of "artificial intelligence". The Summer School was hosted by the University of Genoa and took place in Genoa in the Congress Centre at the old port, the "Porto Antico".

The 2nd International Summer School on Deep Learning is an event attended by representatives of science and business alike. The focus here is on the exchange of current methods, algorithms and possibilities of deep learning, a prominent sub-area of artificial intelligence. Speakers from all over the world, from RWTH Aachen University, Princeton University, as well as from companies such as NVIDIA Corporation, attended the event.

The topics addressed included the use of deep learning at enterprise scale, automated translation of natural language, and the application of deep learning in physics. Further opportunities for networking and exchange round off the summer school.
