Textor, A., Kullmann, H., van der Donk, C. & van Lanen, B. (2026). Praxisforschung in Schule und Unterricht. Beltz Juventa.

Ceremony to mark the anniversary of the German National Academic Foundation (2/2025)

On 1 February 2025, the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes (SDV) celebrated its 100th anniversary with a grand ceremony in Dresden, the city where it was founded. The speeches were given by Federal President Dr Walter Steinmeier, who is also the patron of the Studienstiftung (top photo), the Minister President of the Free State of Saxony, Michael Kreschmer, and the President of the SDV, Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Michael Hoch. Michael Hoch. The Federal Minister of Education and Research, Cem Özdemir, was another well-wisher and took part in a panel discussion.
To the Federal President's speech and to the Studienstiftung's anniversary page.
At their annual meeting on Friday evening and Saturday morning, the liaison lecturers had previously discussed the extension of funding for scholarship holders whose continued funding appeared questionable for various reasons. The programme was rounded off with a tour of Dresden Residential Palace on Sunday.
The photo below shows (from right) Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch, President of the SDV, Fynn Ruppel, (co-)speaker of the SDV scholarship group at the UPB and Prof Dr Harry Kullmann (UPB).

Interview in the podcast of Arbeiterkind.de (11/2024)

The Arbeiterkind.de initiative encourages pupils from non-academic families to study. It was founded in 2009 and today 6,000 volunteers are involved in 80 local ArbeiterKind.de groups across Germany to inform pupils about the possibility of studying and to support them on their journey from starting university to successfully completing their studies and starting a career. Most of the volunteers are students or first-generation academics themselves and talk about their educational path from their own experience and provide encouragement as personal role models. The organisation has received several awards for its services, including the German Commitment Award, the Student Services Award for special social commitment and the German IQ Award from the Mensa in Deutschland e. V. association. The founder and (now) full-time managing director, Katja Urbatsch, received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany for her commitment in 2018. Prof. Kulllmann has contacted and (somewhat) supported local groups in several locations (Bielefeld, Siegen, Koblenz, Paderborn). In autumn, he was invited to a professional biographical interview, which appeared in the Arbeiterkind.de podcast as episode 18 ...

POLARIS starts (10/2023)

POLARIS - Paderborn online resource for practical research in schools and teaching in the form of a PANDA course will be launched at the start of the 2023/2024 winter semester. POLARIS supports (teacher training) students with little knowledge of research methods in their effective, self-taught approach to selecting and using selected research methods in their own empirical studies. Using a flowchart-like structure, the resource guides you through the research process and offers a portfolio for each step consisting of selected and annotated literature as well as further resources such as videos or links to apps and free online courses etc. Further information can be found in the POLARIS section of our AG homepage or here
