DFG project: "Jugend im Blick. The processing of development monitoring and support in the context of school career guidance (JuiB)"

The German Research Foundation-funded project ‘Jugend im Blick. The processing of development monitoring and support in the context of school-based careers guidance (JuiB)’ under the joint leadership of Prof. Dr Marc Thielen (Leipnitz Hannover University) and Dr Stephan Dahmen (Paderborn University) is investigating how the instrument of potential analysis used in careers guidance from year 7 or 8 is implemented in practice at individual schools and linked to classroom and extracurricular arrangements. The cooperation between the two project locations makes it possible to contrast the internal school version of the skills assessment practised in Lower Saxony, which is carried out by teachers, with the cooperative model in North Rhine-Westphalia, in which external organisations are responsible for the potential analysis. The project makes a fundamental contribution to the question of the transformation of educational institutions as a result of the career guidance promoted by education policy and the implementation of new support diagnostic procedures that emphasise competences beyond school performance.
