Final module examinations in the teacher training programme (M.Ed.)

Dear examination candidates,

The final module examinations (MAP) in the Teacher Training Master's programme are organised differently depending on the module and degree programme (see below for details). Please note that this is a final module examination that covers ALL content of the respective module (NOT an examination on the content of the course). Registration for the examination takes place as usual during the week-long registration periods in PAUL!

Please note the following information on registering for final module examinations (MAP) in PAUL:
Examination registration takes place via a "module module: own module module (examination event)":

  1. For your own module module, you first register for the examination course in the corresponding module module under "Registration for courses". You can register for the examination course during the examination registration phase.
  2. You can often choose from small groups of examination courses, e.g. depending on the examiner, examination type or time slot.
  3. You must then register for the corresponding examination under "Examination registration".

Below you will find an overview of the courses with final module examinations and the procedure in the individual modules:

Information on the final module examination in educational science in Master's modules 1 and 2

(as of September 2023)

The following information is based on the module description in the "Special provisions of the examination regulations for the Master's degree programme in Primary School Teacher Education at Paderborn University" as well as on the new regulations from winter semester 2022/23. Specifically, the forms of project work (20,000 to 30,000 characters and/or 20-30 minutes) or written examination (60-120 minutes) or oral examination (20-30 minutes) are specified for MAP I and the forms of project work (20,000 to 30,000 characters and/or 20-30 minutes) or written examination (60-120 minutes) or oral examination (20-30 minutes) are also specified for MAP II.

Further details on examination forms, contents and dates will be announced by the respective examiner. In accordance with the study regulations, the final module examinations are designed in such a way that they relate to the content of the entire module. The respective examiners take this into account in their range of examination-related topics.

It is advisable to take the MAP I following the educational science seminar accompanying the practical semester. Your respective seminar leader will inform you about the exam, advise you and usually also examine you. However, MAP I can also be taken at a later date. In this case, you can ask one of the examiners. Whether your request can be honoured depends on available capacity. MAP II is usually taken after the primary school education research seminar. Your respective seminar leader will inform you about the examination, advise you and usually also examine you. If MAP II is taken at a later date, the regulations described above for MAP I apply accordingly. Please contact the examiner immediately after successful PAUL registration in order to agree on the type of exam, exam content, basic literature and, in the case of oral exams, exam dates (within the time slots specified by the examiners).

If you have any questions, please contact Prof Dr Frank Hellmich or Prof Dr Petra Büker.
