Justice and Mercy. Discussing the Divine Attributes in Muslim-Christian-Dialogue

It has been a major question in traditional theological thinking how the Divine Attributes are to be understood. Recent debates in analytical philosophy have allowed new approaches that, however, are often not linked to those traditional debates. The project "Building bridges between traditional thought and analytical philosophy - Rethinking Divine Attributes in Islam and Christianity" aims at bringing the traditional theological discussions in touch with the modern analytical debate. Questions about the attributes of Omnipotence and Omniscience, Justice and Mercy, Simplicity and Divine Action will be explored in three consecutive Summer Schools. Divine Simplicity and Divine Action. Discussing the Divine Attributes in Muslim-Christian Dialogue

Recent debates in analytical philosophy have allowed new approaches that, however, are often not linked to those traditional debates. The project “Building bridges between traditional thought and analytical philosophy - Rethinking Divine Attributes in Islam and Christianity” aims at bringing the traditional theological discussions in touch with the modern analytical debate. Moreover, analytical philosophy has mostly focussed on Christian Theism, while we intend to explore the possibility of using analytical philosophy as a tool in inter-religious dialogue. Kooperation in den Studiengängen zur Komparativen Theologie in Qom und Paderborn
Der DAAD fördert in den Jahren 2018 bis 2021 die gemeinsame Arbeit der Universität Paderborn und der University of Religions and Denominations (URD) im Iran im Programm „Fachbezogene Partnerschaften mit Hochschulen in Entwicklungsländern“ aus Mitteln des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ).
Überblick
Das ZeKK unterhält bereits seit mehreren Jahren enge Kontakte zur University of Religions and Denominations (URD) in Qom/Iran. Dort lernen Studierende Weltreligionen aus der Perspektive ihrer jeweiligen Theologien kennen. Um die Fragen und Debatten ins Gespräch zu bringen, die in der deutschsprachigen Theologie eine Rolle spielen, werden zwischen 2018 und 2021 jährlich Lehrende und Studierende aus Paderborn in den Iran reisen und dort in Intensivseminaren unterrichten. Ebenso wird jedes Jahr eine iranische Delegation in Paderborn Kurse über zentrale Themen der schiitischen Theologie geben.
Ziel ist es, auf diese Weise die Studiengänge inhaltlich weiter zu entwickeln sowie Lehrmaterialien zu erstellen, die im interreligiösen Dialog eingesetzt werden können. So soll die Zusammenarbeit verstetigt und ein nachhaltiger Beitrag zur besseren Verständigung geleistet werden.
