Project by Prof'in Nina Göddertz "Film ab in der KiTa - Frühkindliche Erziehung und Bildung als interdisziplinärer Lehr- und Lerngegenstand"

The video portal of the Primary School Pedagogy and Early Education working group (Prof'in Dr. Petra Büker) at Paderborn University offers over 30 videotaped teaching scenarios, including 360° videos, which are intended to introduce students to the professional perception of teaching. This video portal is now to be expanded and supplemented with video sequences from daycare centres as part of the project "Film ab in der Kita - Frühkindliche Erziehung und Bildung als interdisziplinärer Lehr- und Lerngegenstand" in cooperation with the AG Sozialpädagogik (Prof'in Dr. Nina Göddertz).Video recordings (in 2D and 360°) will be created to capture everyday educational life in daycare centres and used for the development of digital teaching and learning materials. The teaching and learning materials created will be made available to students and teachers at Paderborn University and provide authentic insights into pedagogical practice in daycare centres. The project will be formatively evaluated using a mixed methods design.

Project by Prof'in Dr Nina Göddertz "Practical support in teacher training in social pedagogy"

We are very pleased that the application submitted by Junior Professor Dr Nina Göddertz as part of the call for proposals "Fokus Netzwerke. Strengthening networks as innovation-promoting actors" submitted to the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (StIL) has been selected for funding! This makes us one of the 30 teaching-related networks and portals that have been selected for funding.

The overarching goal of the project led by Junior Professor Dr. Nina Göddertz (duration 01/04/2023-31/03/2025) is to focus on the educational, learning and qualification processes in the course of study of future teachers specialising in social pedagogy. The project focuses on the preparation/supervision of the various practical phases in schools depending on the federal state and thus also on the question of successful teaching/learning formats and materials as well as needs for the best possible support for student teachers. Events, publications and regular meetings of the professional social pedagogy network create the space and a suitable infrastructure to promote the exchange and joint (further) development and didactic formulation of social pedagogy teacher training.

The project is sponsored by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (StIL), which has been promoting innovation in teaching and learning nationwide since 2021 and will be funding 22 networks and 8 portals from 1 April 2023. These 30 projects have successfully emerged from the "Focus Networks" and "Focus Portals" calls for proposals. All submissions were initially scientifically assessed by three experts, on the basis of which the jury made its funding recommendations. The total funding volume amounts to around 9 million euros for the funding period from 2023 to 2026, with all funds being provided by the federal and state governments. The response was very positive with 120 submissions from networks and 54 from portals.

Further information on the funding decision of the StIL, Focus Networks can be found here.

The AG Sozialpädagogik is very pleased about this success!

DFG project by Dr Stephan Dahmen: "Jugend im Blick. The processing of development monitoring and support in the context of school career guidance (JuiB)"

The German Research Foundation-funded project "Jugend im Blick. The processing of development monitoring and support in the context of school-based careers guidance (JuiB)", jointly led by Prof. Dr Marc Thielen (Leibniz Universität Hannover) and Dr Stephan Dahmen (Paderborn University), is investigating how the instrument of potential analysis used in careers guidance from year 7 or 8 is implemented in practice at individual schools and linked to classroom and extracurricular arrangements. The cooperation between the two project locations makes it possible to contrast the internal school version of the skills assessment practised in Lower Saxony, which is carried out by teachers, with the cooperative model in North Rhine-Westphalia, in which external organisations are responsible for the potential analysis. The project makes a fundamental contribution to the question of the transformation of educational institutions as a result of the career guidance promoted by education policy and the implementation of new support diagnostic procedures that emphasise competences beyond school performance.
