At the annual congress of the Society for Media Studies (GfM) in Paderborn, the C:POP research centre presented a special reading with Sonja Eismann, co-founder of Missy Magazine and author of Candy Girls - Sexism in the Music Industry. Accompanied by a performance by Charlie Mio Marlin, the event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Beate Flath and Prof. Dr. Christoph Jacke and culminated in a panel discussion.

The annual Collegium Musicum Populare took place for the tenth time from 25 to 26 July 2025 - an anniversary! IASPM D-A-CH and the hosts Joshua Wick, Christoph Jacke and Beate Flath organised the event at Paderborn University. Popular Music Studies researchers came together to discuss current research projects.

Seminar participant "Planning, shooting and editing of moving images at the Freak Valley Festival 2025 in cooperation with WDR Rockpalast"

From 19 to 21 June 2025, our students once again took part in the Freak Valley Festival at the AWO site in 57250 Netphen near Siegen as part of the seminar "Planning, shooting and editing moving images at the Freak Valley Festival 2025". A theory and practice weekend took place in Paderborn in the run-up to the festival, where both editorial and technical basics relating to video shooting and editing were taught.

On 2 July, the 21st edition of Popkritik took place in the Paderborn pub "Sputnik" - this time under the tongue-in-cheek motto "Stupid Hits", based on a record of the same name from the 1970s. Around 30 music-loving guests came together to discuss songs that fall somewhere between silliness, nonsense and (supposed) genius.
