Welcome to the website of the Department of Philosophy.
With over 1000 students, philosophy is one of the largest disciplines in the College of Arts and Humanities. Two thirds of our students study to become teachers and for that reason form the focus of our department.
Prof. Dr. Vanessa Albus holds the chair of didactics of philosophy.
Prof. Dr. Suzana Alpsancar is professor of applied ethics with a focus on technology ethics in the digital world. She is co-head of the research project “B06 Ethics and Normativity of Explainable AI” in TRR 318. She is also head of the department.
Prof. Dr. Ruth Edith Hagengruber is professor of practical philosophy with a focus on the philosophy of economics and computer science. She heads the research project Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists.
