Do digital technologies strengthen democracy – or do they contribute to authoritarian developments? In their new research article, Christian Fuchs, Kevin Friesch, and Joel Museba examine how international experts assess the future of digital democracy. The article was produced and published as part of the EU INNOVADE project. The study highlights the opportunities that digital technologies offer for democratic participation, while also addressing the risks posed by major internet platforms, artificial intelligence, and surveillance.
