On 4 May 2023, a book presentation on the book by Bernese musicologist Dr. Hannes Liechti "This Track Contains Politics: The Culture of Sampling in Experimental Electronica" took place in the Gewölbe Paderborn. In the subsequent talk, moderated by Philip Kersting, Liechti, Kersting and the audience discussed various sampling cultures, the problems of sampling and the cultural and political importance of samples. Using a number of sound examples from non-Western music productions, Liechti explained the extent to which sampling can make a track politically relevant. In the book, the author generally examines five songs that contain political samples and categorises them comparatively using specially created models. In addition to analysing the characteristics of a sample, the case studies also highlight the (political) intentions of the sample users.
