The NachhaltigkeitsKulturOWL research project presented a varied programme of stage performances, including music, a talk and a podcast recording, at the "Zukunftsgarten" in Schloss Neuhaus.
How is the Osnabrück cultural scene connected, and what challenges will shape its future? As part of the ‘Cultural Wallet’ research project, the project team – affiliated with the C:POP Research Centre – conducted an initial focus group with representatives from the local cultural scene.
Straight from the lecture to the festival site: at the Freak Valley Festival 2026, students on the Popular Music and Media and Media Studies study programmes used their cameras to document concerts, backstage happenings and everyday life at the festival. Under the direction of Jörg Maas, this resulted, amongst other things, in the festival’s official aftermovie.

On 7 July 2026, Marcus Bösch was a guest speaker at the seminar ‘What do you Meme? Humour, Sounds and Contexts in Internet Culture’. Together with the students and other interested attendees, he discussed political meme culture, far-right codes on TikTok and the question of how a pop song like ‘L’amour toujours’ can become a tool of digital propaganda.
The 23rd Popkritik event at the “Sputnik” in Paderborn focused on football as a pop-cultural phenomenon: from Argentine fan chants and Colombian identity, through AI-generated football music, to Shakira and the commercialisation of the World Cup.

the PopBoard NRW’s Parliamentary Evening at the Düsseldorf State Parliament.

Amid sweltering temperatures, the President of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament and the ‘Popboard NRW’ network hosted a ‘Parliamentary Pop Evening’ at the State Parliament in Düsseldorf on 18 June. Numerous politicians, musicians, officials, journalists and even a group of academics attended an entertaining and highly productive event.

On 2 June 2026, the Contemporary History Research Unit and the C:POP Research Centre hosted a lecture by Dr Martin Göllnitz entitled ‘(I can’t get no) securization’. Security dynamics of pop in the 1950s and 1960s. The focus was on the question of how pop music in the former Federal Republic of Germany was perceived not only as entertainment, pleasure or youth culture, but also as a potential threat to notions of social order.
First results and next steps: Last Friday, the various stakeholders in the research project "Cultural Wallet. Data ecosystems and services to strengthen loyalty and cultural participation" met for a milestone meeting at Osnabrück Theatre last Friday.
Ab dem Wintersemester 2026/27 entfällt die Eignungsprüfung als Zugangsvoraussetzung für das Fach Musik in den Lehramtsstudiengängen Grundschule, Haupt-, Real-, Sekundar- und Gesamtschule sowie Sonderpädagogische Förderung.
Das Lehramt Musik ist damit zulassungsfrei. Die Bewerbung erfolgt innerhalb der regulären Bewerbungsfristen direkt über das PAUL-Bewerbungsportal der Universität Paderborn.

Am 9. April 2026 fand, im Rahmen der Orientierungstage der Universität Paderborn, der Willkommenstag für die neuen Erstsemester*innen im Fach Musik Lehramt statt. Die neuen Studierenden konnten an diesem Tag nicht nur die Musikoase der UPB – Ebene H8 – sondern vor allem schon viele Mitstudierende, die Fachschaft Musik Lehramt und Gesichter aus dem Fach kennenlernen.
