The theme of this year's Graduate Week 2025 is "Democracy in Social Change".
Organised as a hybrid cooperation event of the Graduate Centre of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (GKW) and the Graduate Forum of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (GFKW) from 10.06.2025-12.06.2025 , it offers all participants the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops and to enter into a joint professional and informal exchange during lectures and networking opportunities.During this week, graduates (doctoral students and postdocs) from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities will give lectures on the topic of "Democracy in Social Change" and present their own projects. The pitch format also makes it possible to engage in interdisciplinary dialogue on theses from research contexts, far removed from any specific topic.
Supporting programme of the Graduate Week
The Graduate Week is traditionally opened with a keynote lecture followed by a discussion. We are looking forward to this yearProf Dr Sebastian Luftto welcome Prof Dr Sebastian Luft. Mr Luft has been Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at Paderborn University since 2023. In his lecture, he will focus on"Education for Democracy" and thus set an important impulse for the following discussion, but also for the rest of the Graduate Week.
This year' s Graduate Week programme also includes the Market of Opportunities. As the name implies, participants can not only network with each other here, but also get to know various players in university graduate support and ask individual questions. This year's Market of Opportunities will include, among others, the mentoring programmesthe Writing Competence Centre, Pro Lernen and the Doctoral Committee will participate.
Collaborative writing in science

Collaborative writing processes are commonplace in many scientific disciplines. However, how exactly the roles and tasks are distributed is often unclear or only becomes clear in the course of collaborative writing. This workshop sheds light from a writing science perspective on which activities are involved in the academic writing process and how these can be distributed among the various participants in collaborative writing projects: Who does what? Who is responsible for what? How much is actually done together (writing), how much is done alternately? Being clear about these and similar questions in advance can help to plan and implement collaborative writing projects well. Participants try out different roles and divisions of labour in the writing process in exercises and reflect on their experiences so that they can then use them in 'real' collaborative writing projects.
