From Page to Stage – Spoken Word and Performance

Ort: J4.219

This course creates a space to bring written texts to life through expression and stage presence. The focus lies on developing original spoken word pieces and exploring performance techniques. Participants will learn to use voice, body, and rhythm purposefully to amplify the emotional impact of their words.

Whether working with existing texts or creating new ones, the creative process is supported through writing exercises, stylistic analysis, and group feedback. The course concludes with the opportunity to present the developed pieces in a public showcase, transforming written words into vivid expression.

The workshop is led by Dean Ruddock, a spoken word poet, author, and media artist. His work explores the intersection of language, identity, and postcolonial perspectives, often blending text with sound, movement, and digital media. Ruddock is a member of the Postmigrantisches Radio initiative and holds an MFA in Media Art from the Bauhaus University in Weimar.

His short story "pareidolia" was published at Spector Books.
