Publication opportunities
There are different ways to publish doctoral dissertations. Doctoral dissertations can be published in print and/or in digital form.
In principle, you can contact any publishing house where you see your doctoral dissertation located in terms of content. It is advisable to write to publishers whose (subject-related) profiles match your doctoral dissertation. However, if possible, first talk to the supervisors of your doctoral project about publication opportunities. You may be able to benefit from the contacts of your supervisors.
Publication in the University Library
Doctoral dissertations can be published online free of charge in the University Library of Paderborn University. In return, the manuscript is not proofread or checked again. You as the author make your manuscript available via an upload portal. Your manuscript will then be technically checked by the University Library's publication team , placed on the University Library's server and listed in its catalogue. In this case, the University Library assumes the role of a publisher and ensures the obligatory forwarding of your manuscript to the German National Library.
Important: Online publication via the UB does not necessarily exclude publication by a publisher. Whether both are possible depends on the conditions to be negotiated with a publisher.
