The Graduate Centre of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (GKW), founded in 2021, is an academic institution within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Services are on offer (career advice, events, workshops) for students and staff prospective doctoral candidate, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers and junior professors. In doing so, the GKW actively builds on partnerships, in particular with the graduate student representative body, the Graduate Forum of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (GFKW), the faculty’s Doctoral Examinations Board and the Paderborn PhD & Postdoc Support Office as a university-wide graduate support service, in order to ensure a holistic, needs-based and targeted range of support services. The GKW’s responsibilities are set out in its Articles of Association (1st Amendment to the Articles of Association and consolidated version).

Clear­ing­house

A clearinghouse is based at the GKW. Its (elected) members provide advice, serve as a forum for discussion, and offer support in finding solutions to problems that arise in connection with the graduate students’ academic development and their collaboration with university faculty members.

In­ter­dis­cip­lin­ary Stud­ies of the Pader­born Gradu­ate Centre for Cul­tur­al Stud­ies

The new series "Interdisciplinary Studies of the Paderborn Graduate Centre for Cultural Studies" (only available in German) takes into account research that has been produced in the context of the Graduate Centre of the Faculty of Cultural Studies at Paderborn University (GKW). The volumes consistently specify the epistemic potential of interdisciplinary work derived from the research findings. Interdisciplinarity is not merely understood as the compilation of research findings from different disciplinary perspectives. Rather, it relates these perspectives and thus broadens horizons. The series claims to stand at the intersection of academic research and reflection on one's own academic practice by focusing on the particularities of one's own disciplinary perspective and knowledge culture. The aim of the series is to provide a thematically open platform for different approaches within interdisciplinary cultural studies.
