The annual conference of the Association of Cultural Management took place in Basel from 17 to 19 September. Academics and practitioners discussed current developments and challenges in cultural management with topics such as participation, digitalisation and sustainability.
On September 18th, Prof.in Dr. Beate Flath and Katharina Schmecht presented the first results of the “NachhaltigkeitsKulturOWL”-Project, which is funded by the European Union and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in a lecture called “Transforming Events. Insights into a transdisciplinary research project on sustainability transformations in the context of cultural events”. In particular, hurdles, challenges and needs of stakeholders were discussed. These findings were reflected on as part of the transdisciplinary research design, with a view to the role of non-university partners and the public discourse on sustainability.
The conference also provided valuable networking opportunities and highlighted the importance of interdisciplinary dialogue in cultural management.
