With the filling of the last Vice-Dean's office in the Faculty Council on 18 October, the new Dean's Office of the Faculty of Cultural Studies is complete for the term 2023 to 2027 and has taken up its official duties.

As the new dean, Prof. Dr. Oliver Reis heads the dean's office. After working in Cologne, Dortmund and Siegen, Reis has been Professor of Religious Education with a special focus on inclusion at the Institute of Catholic Theology since 2016. Most recently, he was the Institute's spokesperson.

The new Vice Dean for Studies, Teaching and Digitisation is Prof. Dr Dorothee Meister. She has been Professor of Media Education and Empirical Media Research at the Institute of Media Studies since 2004. In the presidency of Prof. Dr. Nikolaus Risch, she worked for many years as Vice President for Studies, Teaching and Quality Management.

As Vice Dean for Process Management and Communication, Prof. Dr. Britt-Marie Schuster takes over a newly created department. She has been Professor of German Linguistics at the Institute of German and Comparative Literature since 2006. She is the deputy ompudsperson for good scientific practice and brings with her extensive experience in academic self-administration.

Prof. Dr. Prof. h.c. mult Eva-Maria Seng as the new Vice Dean for Research, Academic Careers and Internationalisation has been Professor of Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Institute of History since 2006. The art historian with a doctorate has already been a member of the University Council of the University of Paderborn and spokesperson for the Institute of History on several occasions.

The new Vice Dean for Equality, Sustainability and Diversity is Dr Larissa Eikermann. She holds a doctorate in art education, is a research assistant in the subject of art and is currently still the Faculty's Equal Opportunities Officer. This is the first time since the founding of the Faculty of Cultural Studies that a representative of the academic middle class has been elected to the dean's office.

"There are major challenges ahead for the faculty," says Oliver Reis, "such as dealing with declining student numbers and funding, developing new degree programmes in the face of changing societal challenges, developing an internationalisation and a research strategy at faculty level, and generally further developing the structure and organisation of the faculty in the context of our university. We look forward to tackling these challenges as part of the Dean's Office team and together with the Faculty."
