Graduate assemblies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities
A primary goal of the Graduate Forum is to give the graduate students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities a voice. The plenary meeting, which usually takes place once a semester, serves this purpose. All doctoral students and postdocs of the Faculty who are in a supervisory relationship with a member or in an employment relationship with UPB are invited to attend. At the beginning there is a public part in which all other UPB members and external guests can participate.
The plenary assembly aims to address current topics of graduate work, facilitate exchange and networking between graduate students and those responsible in the faculty (e.g. Dean, Chair of the Doctoral Committee, Graduate Centre) and thus promote a joint shaping of the framework conditions for academic work. In addition, the management team and the graduate representatives are elected once a year. All doctoral candidates and postdocs of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are eligible to vote.
Graduates are encouraged to suggest topics for the plenary assembly. These and other concerns and questions can be sent by email to graduiertenforum-kw-team@lists.uni-paderborn.de.

On 6 November 2018, the second doctoral candidates' meeting of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities took place. Once again, a large number of doctoral candidates attended, so that the number of participants was again over 50. Invited guests included the Dean of Research, Prof Dr Peckhaus, the Chair of the Doctoral Committee, Prof Dr Buhl, the Dean of Research, Prof Dr Becher, Julian Decius as a representative of the mid-level faculty and Gerd Richter from the Academic Staff Council, who all attended.
After a general round of introductions, which was intended above all to make functionaries visible as contact persons, current concerns from the various fields were addressed.
For example, Ms Buhl reported on the planned change to the doctoral regulations, while Mr Decius spoke about further work on proposed solutions for conflicts during the doctoral period.
Other topics discussed at the meeting were
- Clearing concepts for conflict cases (including from the GFKW itself)

The third doctoral candidates' meeting will take up and concretise points that have already been discussed. We are delighted that the President, Prof Dr Birgitt Riegraf, will be present this time!
*In the meantime, this has resulted in the revision of the supervision agreement, which Ms Buhl drew up following the meeting.
