Conference: Émilie Du Châtelet in Relation to Leibniz and Wolff – Similarities and Differences

From the 28th till the 30th of September the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists will host the conference Émilie Du Châtelet in Relation to Leibniz and Wolff – Similarities and Differences at Paderborn University. The Conference is organized by Clara Carus (Paderborn University), Jeffrey McDonough (Harvard University) and Ruth Hagengruber (Director of the Center for the History of Women Philosophers and Scientists, Paderborn University).

Confirmed keynote speakers are Katherine Brading (Duke University) and Anne-Lise Rey (Paris Nanterre). Mercator Fellow Jeffrey McDonough (Harvard University) will hold a welcome speech. Further confirmed invited speakers are Julia Borcherding (University of Cambridge/LMU) and Tinca Prunea-Bretonnet (Institute of Philosophy and Psychology, Romanian Academy/University of Bucharest). During the conference, on the 28th September 2022, the Elisabeth of Bohemia Prize will be awarded to an outstanding contemporary philosopher in honor of Elisabeth of Bohemia (1618 – 1680). The award is donated by Ulrike Detmers, spokeswoman of the Mestermacher Group und professor at Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences.
