OUR FACULTY
As the biggest of all 5 faculties at Paderborn University the Faculty of Arts and Humanities consists of eleven institutes which offer a total of 15 study programs. Among the 6 Bachelor and 9 Master’s degrees the university also offers a binational BA-program called “Etudes Européennes” as well as the Master’s program “English and American Studies” taught in English exclusively. This broad offer of study programs is reflected within our diverse and international mix of students. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities is proud to have more than 8300 registered students which fill the faculty with joy each and every day.
As an exchange student you are able to freely choose nearly all of your courses within our faculty. These choices are neither bound by subjects nor a specific department – you can choose from our faculty’s full course catalogue. We offer more than 1000 different classes every semester, but most of them are offered and taught in German. Some departments do offer classes in English.
The majority of our course catalogue changes every semester which makes our faculty exceptional with respect to the fact that only a few classes are offered repetitively. The reason behind the varying course offers is that all lecturers try to integrate their research focus and try to engage students in current and diverse topics.
This entails that oftentimes you cannot choose your classes one year but only a few months before the mobility. This however should not worry you, because there are always plenty of courses to choose from in order to achieve the amount of ECTS/credits you need to obtain.
